Idaho Public Records
Public records in Idaho are administered by a number of different divisions and departments. Some records are maintained at the state level and some at the county level. Generally, though, Idaho's public records are easy to find and access; many of them are available online.
Vital Records
In Idaho, vital records - including records of birth, death, marriage, and divorce - are administered by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, through the Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics (the "Bureau"). The Bureau makes records available for order online or by mail.
Online - To request records online, visit third party processor VitalChek. They are a popular solution for many states where it is difficult to access data. The ordered records will be delivered by mail.
By Mail - To request records by mail, print and fill out the application form and mail it, along with a copy of a photo ID and the required fee, to:

Criminal Records
The Idaho State Police administer criminal history records in Idaho. The public can request background checks based on name. For more information, visit the police website.
Additionally, the State of Idaho subscribes to VineLink, a searchable criminal offender database. Through VineLink, Idaho inmate and criminal records are available for online search. On the left side of the page there is a menu of search options. VineLink can be reached by phone at (866) 984-6343.
Court Records
The Idaho State Judiciary maintains a searchable online database containing Supreme Court records from 1995 to present. Additionally, the database includes most post-2008 case information for all of Idaho's 44 counties. Users can search for specific cases at the Data Repository website. Records are searchable by name or case number; see the menu on the left side of the page.
Business Records
The Idaho Secretary of State maintains business records for corporations and limited liability companies. The business entity records typically include such information as the name and file number of the business, the names of any officers or agents, and the date of formation. Property Records
In Idaho, property records are maintained at the county level, at the county assessors office. Contact your local assessors office for property and tax information.
Driving Records
Driving records are administered by the Idaho Transportation Department. To order records, print the Driver Records Request Form and send it, along with the required fee ($7.00 for a standard record; $14.00 for certified), to the following address:
